Happy Birthday card ....

... for a friends recent birthday, using new JOFY stamps - I had fun (as usual) playing with the stamps and creating the card - which is good because March is a really busy month in our house for card requirements - birthdays, wedding anniversaries and Mothers Day  of course! (15th March in the UK, in case you're wondering)...

... and look! - I'm still embracing yellow!!

The flower stamps used are JOFY33, 'birthday is a stamp from the stamp drawer and I have NO idea who made it - sorry!  the die is 'happy trio' from Wplus9 , papers from Crate Paper.

been 'busy'....

.. I was having a quick look back through my recent blog posts and its been a while since I posted pictures of my actual work - it all seems to have been pictures of my desk (which is fine), or things I've found inspiring or just generally pretty pictures ... but none of my work.  Sometimes this is because I can't show it for one reason or another ie magazine work, dt pieces, samples for teaching or I'm working on pieces that will go for sale ... etc etc etc
aaaanyhoo enough is enough - lets put this right:  here are some pic's of a couple of things I made earlier today:
playing with my new favourite punch - the bird/branch from Stampin up.. they've got a great new stye of punch- nice and flat and stackable and much kinder on the hands.

and another card made using quite a few of my favourite things - sewing, punchouts, sewing, and the gorgeous 'brook' paper from Crate Paper.

Thanks to the everyone who left a comment about Bertie and his debut on WOYWW but before you all get too taken in by those 'butter wouldn't melt' cute looks of his check this out.. this is what I have to contend with - the little furball has no manners! lol I spend a lot of time picking him up off the desk and putting him back down on the floor... he's like a jack-in -the-box... gotta love him though- its all part of his charm... apparently!

I don't like yellow.....

.... but Crate Paper's Brook collection could probably change my mind about that - and when its used by Christine Middlecamp my mind could definitely be altered!  They've put yellow together with teal/turquoise and brown - very lovely.

(photo from Christine's blog - great snapshot of all papers together - and small!)
Its also has some lovely little retro motif's that are always a winner for me.
(take a look at Christine's blog - its very inspiring - I love her attention to depth & detail on her layouts and yet there is always a feeling of 'space' - room for the images to be seen....)

BTW - Friday would have been Elvis Presley's 75th birthday if he'd lived. There were loads of Elvis documentaries* and concerts shown on BBC to mark the event - lots of white jump suits and rhinestones - gotta love it - and the '68 Comeback Special (the black leather one) - unplugged-type concerts don't get better than that do they??  I'm always impressed when I watch footage from back then to see that singers can be pitch perfect, in time, etc etc etc without the aid of ear pieces and technology.
* actually I don't think there were 'a lot' of them - BBC just seemed to repeat a couple A LOT!
